The Perfect Delivery Starts Before the Last Mile
The customer doesn’t know where the warehouse ends and the last mile begins. By the time a truck leaves the distribution center, many of the factors that determine whether a delivery succeeds — inventory accuracy, product availability, picking and verification, labor execution, loading, communication, and technology — have already been decided.
I’d like to share an operator’s perspective on treating the last mile as part of a larger end-to-end operating system, including practical lessons from running distribution operations, improving accuracy and productivity, working with legacy systems, and deciding where automation and AI actually add value. The focus would be on real-world execution and the idea that a perfect delivery is ultimately the output of the entire operation, not simply a transportation KPI.
