UPS is expanding a real-time twin of its whole network, refreshed every 10 minutes
UPS said in a June 18, 2026 newsroom release that it is extending a real-time digital twin of its global network to every mode of transportation, a replica of facilities, the air and ground networks and package flows end to end that refreshes every 10 minutes so the network can adjust and self-heal. The release, which says UPS has deployed AI for more than three years, also lists network planning tools that run what-if scenarios on live weather, delay and volume inputs before disruptions reach service, agentic control tower capabilities being deployed on site with customers across multi-carrier networks, RFID paired with AI for near real-time package-level visibility, AI-supported customer service intended to cover more than 98 percent of requests by the end of 2026, and brokerage tools under which UPS says 97 percent of its shipments clear customs on the first day of entry.

- 98%+ Of Customer Service Requests UPS Intends To Cover With AI And Human Expertise By The End Of 2026
The refresh interval is the number a shipper can now ask for by name. UPS says its network twin updates every 10 minutes and is being extended to every mode, so a buyer's own visibility, control tower or planning tool is being measured against that cadence whether or not the supplier knows it. The same release puts an agentic control tower on site with customers across multi-carrier networks, which is the ground that independent visibility platforms sell on, and it ties customs, returns and package-level RFID tracking to the same AI program. For the buyers on the program the practical question is what their carrier's twin sees of their lanes and whether a what-if run happens before a storm reaches them; for suppliers the case is to be the layer the carrier's twin does not cover: the shipper's own stores, depots and last-mile partners.
